our Mac gamers might post info on other games that play well on SheepShaver, so come back to see if anyone adds anything new for playing games on SheepShaver. When SheepShaver is installed on a PowerPC based system, applications run at native speeds.

Builds of SheepShaver are available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. Using SheepShaver it is possible to emulate a Macintosh computer capable of running Mac OS 7.5.2 through 9.0.4. Good luck Declan, and you're doing it right, stay indoors and tinker away on your new little Mac don't give up on it! SheepShaver is an open source emulator of PowerPC based Macintosh computers. A rule I learnt a long time ago was, the older the game, the better odds you have of running it and of it crashing your Mac, too!
However let me say if you do have MacOS 7.6 9 you’ll love Sheepshaver. This environment has been dropped from Intel releases of Mac OS X, but thanks to SheepShaver, you can still set it up yourself on Mac OS X, Linux, Windows, and even BeOS if you want to.
#How to use sheepshaver install
Unless you are running something CPU intensive Like SIMH on MiNT (all 68000 code) on Sheepshaver (PowerPC emulator) it can be quirky at times. On PowerPC Macintosh machines, you can install a Classic environment which launches a virtualised instance of MacOS 9 whenever you launch a Classic application. Honestly its way better than the real deal. Mac emulation can be looked at as a game in itself trying out different programs, getting your feet wet on how Macs used to be like back in the day, getting comfortable with the retro-style of the OS. Right now I’m using my 7.6.1 CD to run stuff, and it works great. Oftentimes, a game's page will give info on issues and tips that the game might need to play, so it definitely helps to search for games in the Garden that state they run with SheepShaver since it can run a lot of smaller and older games and is easier to set-up. Zoo Tycoon and many other CD-ROM games in the Garden need better emulation than SheepShaver, like Qemu and VMWare. It also works on VMWare, but both are tricky to set-up. Even if you cant help me on using SheepShaver, I expected to have at least a good site to check out (which you gave me, by the way. Note: Mike added very easy instructions below my post to mount a toast game CD on SheepShaver and 24bit tested the game successfully on Qemu with Mac OS 9.2.
